the laser uses toner. you will need to go to ';toner saver mode';, turn on. When the ink becomes low, then the machine will prompt you 100-150 pages from being empty.How to check ink level for canon laser printer?
Uhhh, laser printers don't use ink. They use toner (yeah, yeah semantics).

There is no foolproof way if the printer does not have a system for monitoring the toner level. Easiest way is to compare the weights of a full and empty one. You definitely do not want to open a toner cartridge unless you're starring in an Al Jolson revival!

Also, empty toner cartridges can be exchanged for new ones at a slightly discounted price - don't toss it!
Start%26gt;Control Panel%26gt; PRinters and Faxes.

Select the printer, and RIGHT CLICK.

Go to PROPERTIES%26gt;

( IT may be labeled maintence)

USusally there is a system check, or nozzle check .. or ink check.... option.
You must be from Europe. I have not seen this printer in North America but you cannot tell even if you did look at the cartridge. On some canons cartridges there is a small 1cm X 1cm or so clear plastic window on the bottom of the cartridge. If you see that window, the cartridge is capable of telling when the toner is low, but it all depends on whether or not the printer has that capability. I think in this case no. but i could be wrong. here is a link to the manual
I think every Canon printer gives the ink status when we give it the command to print. If it doesn't in your case, you can lookout for the ink settings and have a look at that. If you feel like buying new cartridges for your printer, then visit http://www.Ask4ink.com

Its a one stop shoppe for all kind of Ink needs selling Compatible Ink Cartridges at cheapest prices you can't even imagine.
Laser printers use toner, not ink. The information page you can print out from the printer will tell you the settings as well as toner level.
