Canon printer ink tank question?

I have a Canon Pixma 500 printer and the ink tank's are very expensive. I see for sale on Ebay and other sites refill kits, after market tanks, ect. for much less money. I am kinda' skeptical. I once tried an after market tank, the one that requires the 'chip' to be removed from the original and placed on the after market tank, not too good! Have you had any success with any ink tank/ refill kit ect. other than the original Canon tank? ThanksCanon printer ink tank question?
I have never used refurbished tanks myself after hearing the horror stories about them bleeding, etc. I have the Canon Pro9000 with 8 cartridges and I have found that Canon makes a value pack containing all eight of them. Buying the ink this way has resulted in massive savings for me.

Also, Staples will raise the price significantly, I have found Circuit City to be the cheapest thus far. Newegg.com is also rather cheap, but you have to pay shipping.Canon printer ink tank question?
You are probably going to keep encountering the chip transfer.

as long as you buy from a reputable place (I would not recommend ebay for ink) using a compatible cartridge will be fine.
