As someone who was in the computer hardware business for years (though I rarely sold printers since I couldn't compete with the crazy rebates) I have always recommended Epson. The print quality is excellent, even on plain paper. I have photos I printed on a 640 about ten years ago hanging in my office which still look good, though not as good as the ones from the CX8400 on glossy paper. The warranty is excellent. For a year, Epson will express-ship a replacement and pick up the old one. I had one customer who needed this. He called one afternoon and had the replacement two days later. Another client bought a Canon. It needed two repairs within a few months. Each time it was taken to the repair center, then picked up a few days later. This client runs a specialty printing business and this really hurt. They have since bought an Epson and have had no down time since.

Epson has also made things easier for their customers by standardizing their cartridges. Most of their printers use one of two types. The three-color plus black use T069 (CX5000 CX6000 CX7000 CX7400 CX7450 CX8400 CX9400FAX CX9475Fax NX100 NX105 NX400 Workforce 30/40/500/600 and C120) and the 5-color plus black use T078 (R260 R280 R380 RX580 RX595 and RX680). This means you should be able to find a lot of people who use the same cartridges you do. When it's time to replace the printer, the next model will probably also use the same ones.

The biggest complaint about all inkjets is the high cost of ink cartridges. http://ccs-digital.com has cartridges for about $4.50 each. They also have a unique product - a two-piece cartridge where the ink is in a separate tank inside the cartridge. When the ink runs out, you replace just the ink tank and the original chip resets itself to full. By keeping the same chip, you save 1.50 per cartridge. Ink tanks are only $3 and hold 50% more ink than disposable cartridges.
it depends on how much you use the printer how much ink you use

they are all factory preset as to how much ink is used when you print.

How do you empty a used ink tank in a canon printer (i560) thats says its full?

remove the old ink cartridge and replace it with a new one. i am not familiar with the exact model you are asking about, but the cartridges on all of the canon printers i have used just snap out and in. good luck!

    Canon MP268 Ink refill question!!?

Hi, I brought a printer and ran out of black ink. Then, I refilled the ink cartilage. I'm sure i did that part correctly. However, after refilling, the black ink tank shows up empty on my computer.

Is there any way i could reset the chip on the ink cartilage?Canon MP268 Ink refill question!!?
It will never show full with refills as the printer thinks that cartridge is empty as the chip in it has told the printer that it's empty and it can not look inside to see there is now ink in it.

Once that cartridge has been registered empty that's it. It should still print but you will not get it show full ink levels.

The chip is a bit like buying a cinema ticket. You pay and get a ticket that allows you to watch the film.

Once the film has finished you leave (the chip tells you empty cartridge). The cinema does not allow you to use the ticket again and the chip does not allow you to use it again once empty.

So if you can refill it and if it prints then be grateful as a lot do not. The ink levels are just a guide anyway and are never accurate. You will know when it needs refilling as your printouts will tell you by their quality.Canon MP268 Ink refill question!!?
No printer manufacturer recommends refilling cartrdiges. The printer cannot detect how much ink remains and there is the possibility of serious damage to your printer which cannot be repaired under warranty as your use of refills has voided the warranty
    Simple answer = NO

I have a MP210 and forever having trouble with refilled ink cart's.

And I can't refill the colour 1 either, which is a bit annoying.

Even shop bought reconditioned cartridges are not reset to show ink level.

Canon MP170 FULL INK WASTE ABSORBER?

I have an error message 5B00 (full ink waste absorber) on my printer. How can I clear this message so that I can use the printer.Canon MP170 FULL INK WASTE ABSORBER?
There is a waste ink tank beneath all inkjet printers filled with sponge-like material to absorb the excess ink. Once it is full, the printer stops working. Otherwise it would leak all over your desk. It's a really big job to clean it out. You should probably start looking for another printer.

Canon BJC-2100SP prints bad coloured with new ink?

I bought new black and colour ink cartridges for my Canon BJC-2100SP which my sister recently gave to me because she never used it but it prints out photos badly coloured and covered in lines! Is this because the printer hasn't been used in so long, possibly over a year Is there anyway i could fix this? Would cleaning it help? Or is it worthless now that it's so ancient?Canon BJC-2100SP prints bad coloured with new ink?
If a head cleaning doesn't work (via the printer control panel in Windows) then the problem may lie in the ink cartridges or head. If both cartridges are new or refilled, then problem is the print head. In that case the printer is basically junk as a new head is not orderable.

i got my cartidges refilled for my canon mp210 refilled but its still saying out of ink , anyone know how to fix this.CANON MP21O INK CARTIDGES REFILL?
It will not show ink levels as full, as its a refilled not original new one. It should print with refills but printers only recognise own brand inks cartridges and so once it shows low ink it will continue to show it until you buy original one that will have information stored in it to send to printer to say new cartridge and then it sets ink levels.

    Edit

To the printer, even an originally orignal cartridges is no longer an original once refilled. That is now a refilled cartridge to that printet as its chip deatils have been given to printer .

Think of you cartridge as a cinema ticket. You pay before you go in and you watch the film untill the end. Once you finished watching the film you leave. The cinema will not let you turn up the next day to watch the film again unless you pay again. That is what printer makers do to the cartridges - make them one payment one watch tickets.

Some printers will let you watch the film again if you can sneak back in for free and although frought with alsorts of attepts to first by pass the usherette it eventually lets you see the film again. The chip in the cartridge has told the printer empty and that you used you ticket already, so it aint gonna let you past the usherette as this one is, 20 stone a black belt in karate and militery trained to precision in servalence.

This site has information on about refills that may explain better than me. I know the Canon ones you have can be refilled and will print and on here there are tips on how to overdide it. It will keep showing showing ink low untill new acrtridge put in but it will print. I think you press the little button that has the red triangle and red share in it hard untill the orange light goes off. It will then print fine.

Is there a software that I can know the level of my ink cartridge? i can't see it on printing preferencesCanon BJC1000SP ink indicator?
On many printers there is not estimated ink level for the soul reason it is always wrong. the printer actually has no idea how much ink is actually in the cartridge, the ink level is just an estimate based upon the number of pages you have printed.

For that particular printer you can use an old fashioned but highly reliable indicator, your eyes. When you start to see fading or deep streaking (that won't be fixed by running a couple print head cleanings) Then it is time to replace the cartridge. If you want to keep and extra cartridge on hand just in case, it is a good idea. Most cartridges have a shelf life of 18 months to 2 years.

How competent are you at taking a printer to pieces? It means the ink pad inside the machine is soaked and needs changing. Or you could find your nearest canon supplier and arrange for them to change it for you.

I've had the same problem with the Canon MP160. The book fails to mention that the cartridges go into a carriage which is usually on the right side of the machine. To get the carriage over to the left side, first turn on the power, then open the machine top, and the carriage will move over to the left side. Now you can install the cartridges as per the instructions and pictures.

    Hi,

you can't. Your PG black runs out because it's your pigmented black cartridge. It's used for most prints of text for example. Your 8Bk is the dye based one like your colours. Your printer uses these to print colour images. For example you write a report that has a photo in it that has black and the text of your report is black. The PG5 is used for the text and the 8Bk is used for the black portions in your photo.

Best thing, just filll that cart up.An Island Ink Jet or a Cartridge world can do it for you or you can do it yourself. It's easy to fill, probably one fo the easiest.

    Canon i250 %26amp; i250 waste ink tank counter reset. by BSF (12/10/04 10:13 PM) +1 + / -

OK, Boys and Girls...here finally is the complete answer to the problem of the waste ink tank counter reset for Canon i250 and i350 printers.

    1. Disconnect printer from AC power (take out AC cord or power off your power strip). Disconnect USB PC cable from printer.

    2. Press and HOLD the POWER button (untill step 7).

    3. Reconnect power cord (turn on power) to the printer.

    4. The indicator should be green.

    5. Press and release the RESUME button , the indicator should be orange.

    6. Press and release the RESUME button again, the indicator should be green.

    7. NOW Release POWER buttons.

    8. NOW Connect the printer to PC (USB cable).

    9. NOW...I opened ';Printers'; and saw that a ';copy'; of my printer (i250 or i350) had been made. Make that COPY your default printer and all should work...It did for me.

I must say...I went into the ';GUTS'; of the beast and cleaned out the PADS (they are actually vacuum pads that the INK is sucked through during a HEAD cleaning) a very messy undertaking.

I'm not sure how much life this will add to your printer.

    Canon Printer Ink Refill?

I guess I need to reset the chips on my ink cartridges for my Canon Pixma ip 4200 series printer. I refilled it and it does not work. However I can only find Epsom chip resetters. Does a Canon Chip Resetter exist yet? Is this infact what I need to be able to refill my ink cartridges? I am so aggravated by this as my stupid printer will not even let me print out anything in black and white until the MAGENTA ink tank is replaced.. even though it IS refilled. What a scam!Canon Printer Ink Refill?
Although now that I'm seeing the types of questions that you're asking, I can see that you are getting into things that only three geeks would be inclined to give you an answer to. However I can tell you that No, a Cannon Chip resetter does not exist. You're talking about Cannon after all. They're not interested in you saving money but in you spending top dollar for everything that you want with the Cannon name. They are no longer 'top of the line' where it comes to electronics. In fact I would rate them 'welfare of the line' if anything. I've dealt with them and I'm not going to bore you with the details, but you'd be better of with something else. I won't give product endorsements but I will tell you that Cannon isn't interested in making technology easy or intelligent for the user.Canon Printer Ink Refill?

    Canon MP210 ink cartridge recognition?

It uses the PG-40 and CL-41 ink cartridges. So, you should be able to refill them and insert without a chip giving you message of a low ink warning.

Canon iP4300 Ink Monitor says empty

I just refilled my tank of black ink (PGI-5BK) and when i put it back into my printer it blinks and the monitor says that it is still empty. How do i fix this problem?Canon iP4300 Ink Monitor says empty
You cannot, the chips on the PGI-5 cannot be reset.

If your printer will not print by clicking OK, you will need to replace the cartridgeCanon iP4300 Ink Monitor says empty
If this is a USB printer, you need to recharge the chip on the side of the cartridge. This is another scam by mfg. to get you to buy only original ink tanks. The rechargers are about $20

Well first of all make sure you fixed the color ink cartridge properly and it has ink. If everything perfect... then just take out that color cartridge and clean its head... with soft cloth sometime old ink on head do not let come out fresh ink so clean it and then fix it again... then try printing test page... hopefully it will work...My Canon 450 printer is not printing in color? I was printin in black, but I put the color ink into..?
Take out the ink tanks and seal with tape.

Take out the print head and soak in isopropal alcahol overnight. Dry it and put it back in as well as the ink tanks.

Open printer properties and do some head cleaning and print test pages.
make sure you put the colored ink cartridge in correctly and it has ink.
Uninstall the driver and install again, take out all cartridges, and put them in correctly, run calibration test which should be in preferences.

How can i refill the Canon MP600 ink ?

Your cartridges can as of a few days be completely refilled

and properly reset. (This was not possible a few days ago!)

Get your cartridge or ink from:

    http://www.inkfilling.com/printer_PIXMA_鈥?/a>

If you buy ink (i.e. not cartridge) you will have to reset yourself

Here is the new resetter the only one that works and is less than 60 bucks (because it is new many retailers are selling very high!)
